ENGAGING IN CORE VALUES EXERCISE

In this exercise, think about your core values. Core values include things that you value most in life, things that you strive to be. Core values are important to identify because they help us lead the life that we want to live. They can also help us identify the areas in our lives where we may not be living by our values.

Examples: Honesty, Adventure, Compassion, Faith, Authenticity, Love, Open-mindedness, Patience, Gratitude

A quick google search can help you find hundreds of values as well as quizzes that can help you to identify which values resonate most with you.

Next, choose one core value. Create a journal entry describing the following: Why is [core value] important to me? Identify examples of living with [core value]. How do I already live with [core value]? What areas of my life do I stray from [core value]? How can I change these behaviors? How will [core value] help my overall well-being and affirm my identity/boost my self-esteem?
